Driver Challenge

New to Subiefest 2009 is the Driver Challenge (Regularity Race). This is open to all Subarus and all experience levels.

How does it work? You get several test sessions, then, you must set YOUR target lap time. Following that you have to repeat as close as possible to your lap time with each following lap. Every second over or under your time will result in a point. The driver with the least amount of points wins the trophy. This is a test of driver skill, not top speed.

Requirements: State-issued Driver’s License. Driver must wear an approved helmet. Fire suit not required. Car must have adequate safety equipment (seat belts, good brakes, etc.) and be in good running order (not leaking any fluids) and should still have a full interior (may be waved with approval from organizers.)

Entry Fee: $150, Plus Transponder Rental (if you don’t own one, $25)
First Place Rewards: Trophy, Bragging Rights

Time Attack Challenge – Street Modified

Do you have the fastest street Subaru? Let the numbers decide!

The Street Class allow for lightly modified Subarus to lay down the fastest lap times possible. Class is restricted to tire wear of 140 or more (no R compounds); full interiors intact (minor replacement pieces — like door inserts — okay); modified wing mirrors, spoiler, side skirts, hood and lip okay — no other aero modifications allowed; coilovers okay; stock turbo or no greater than VF39 equiv on WRX, Forester or Legacy; reflashes and piggyback systems okay; no stand-alone engine management.

Requirements: Driver must have valid competition license OR state-issued Driver’s license and must have completed HPDE and/or performed a lapping day in the past year and have an approved helmet and working safety gear. Cage, harness and fire suit are not required for this class. Fire extinguisher recommended.

Entry Fee: $250, Plus Transponder Rental (if you don’t own one, $25)
First Place Rewards: $250 check (entry fee refund),  Trophy, Bragging Rights

Time Attack Challenge – Top Speed

Who is the fastest Subaru in the land? There’s only one event in North America that makes the definitive call: Subiefest.

The Time Attack Challenge is a top-speed epic battle without limits on fuel, tires or geometry. It just has to be a Subaru motor and a Subaru body, so no Locost’s or Mitsubishi-powered STIs. Who is the fastest. That is the question. Subiefest 2009 will have the answer.

Requirements: Driver must have competition license OR a valid state-issued Driver’s License. Additionally, driver’s must have completed HPDE and performed a lapping day in the past year. Time Attack drivers must wear a single-layer firesuit and have an approved helmet. Car must not be leaking any fluids and contain a roll-bar or cage, harnesses and fire extinguisher.

Entry Fee: $250, Plus Transponder Rental (if you don’t own one, $25)
First Place Rewards: $250 check (entry fee refund),  Trophy, Bragging Rights
